- My coding history

In college I studied audio production and graduated with a BS in Electronic Arts. It wasn’t until I attended a DaVinci Institute coding bootcamp in 2015 that I really got into coding. In that course I learned HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Since then I’ve learned and gained experience with the LAMP stack, Node.js, React.js, PHP, WordPress, SASS and more. I’ve built several personal websites and done freelance work building websites for other people and organizations.

Here are some examples of my work.

I built this site for my wife with a cool JS parallax effect.

A business site with a JS scrolling slideshow.

This mobile website uses React.js and has embedded music players.

A React.js single-page web app for a drumming business.

A page I built in my church's WordPress website.

A custom WordPress theme for my old band

A responsive single-page-scroller WordPress theme for a business.

A PHP login system.

- My life goals

I’ve been involved in music, and creating music, for most of my life…and I love it! It is amazing when you can create something that helps people and brings them together. Over the past several years I’ve had the pleasure of pursuing this musical passion with my wife, who is the Music Director at our church. It is our dream to be able to create meaningful music with each other for the rest of our lives.

In the past, I’ve worked construction jobs to provide a consistent income. Unfortunately that line of work leaves me feeling worn down, with little energy or time to create music. Since I’ve discovered web development, however, I’ve become convinced that it is a career that will allow me to: (1) have a job I genuinely enjoy and am good at, (2) continue pursing my musical passion, and (3) provide for my growing family (my wife and I are expecting our first child!).

I am a passionate learner. I soak it all in and excitedly start applying my new knowledge. My experience, knowledge, and willingness to work hard make me an asset to any group I join, and I'm looking to join a creative, forward-thinking crew.
